One of the cool things about the North Fish Hatchery Road project was the way materials were recycled. The existing concrete pavement was pulverized and reused as the base course for the new road, helping save the community of Fitchburg $700,000! The Fish Hatchery and McKee Road intersection was notorious for being a tricky intersection to cross. Motor traffic would regularly disregard the protected right turn signage, creating safety conflicts with pedestrians and cyclists.
