KL Engineering brought home the 2022 WisDOT Excellence in Highway Design Award for Best Urban Design. The USH 51 project improved Wisconsin & Dewitt Streets in the City of Portage, providing safety and better accommodations for traffic, business, pedestrians, bicycles, and even canoes! This complex project involved ADA connections to the Wisconsin River Levee Trail, integrated crossing of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, and navigability through and along the Historic Portage Canal. We were honored to team with WisDOT and City of Portage and be a part of this important project.
