We had a fantastic bike outing after our last KL Quarterly Meeting. We rented BCycles for staff who wanted to try out an ebike and took a ride. KL’s Karen Richardson and Bill Biesmann gathered a group to participate in the Move ‘N’ Groove bike ride last Saturday. Funds raised support the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. Saturday is National Trail Day! Wisconsin is home to 50 state parks, 15 state forests, and 44 state trails. There are trails for all abilities and activities. KL has had a hand in the development of the following Wisconsin State Trails: Capital City, Chippewa River, Elroy-Sparta, Glacial Drumlin, Ice Age, Military Ridge, and Mound View.
We saw a lot of future engineers at Kids Building Wisconsin this year! There were over 50 interactive exhibits, along with boom lift rides, big cranes, and construction equipment for kids to explore. Tomorrow is National Stop Food Waste Day. According to the DNR, “Approximately 854,000 tons of food waste and scraps were sent to the state’s landfills in 2020.” That’s nearly 300 pounds per person living in Wisconsin. There are a few things you can do to help combat the carbon emissions that come from food waste!
