With the increased use of ATVs and UTVs throughout the area, Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC) partnered with KL Engineering to take a proactive approach with long-range and comprehensive planning of routes and trails for these vehicles.
Existing routes and facilities were documented in the FCPC and standards of implementation of ATV/UTV trails and routes were documented to facilitate future route planning. Public outreach was done to understand the priorities and concerns with ATV/UTV trail and route expansion alternatives.
From the research and results of public involvement, KL Engineering and FCPC created a recommended route/trail plan with cost estimates for the highest-priority facilities. The plan also identified proposed design standards for future trail planning, implementation of education, and outreach activities tied to the ATV/UTV system. The plan also included funding resources available for ATV/UTV facilities and potential partnerships with area ATV and snowmobile clubs.
