Several of the campsites within the Harrington State Beach park have experienced flooding damage during heavy rains. This resulted in closure of the campsites, which is an inconvenience to park users. Since campsites can be reserved online up to 11 months in advance, unexpected closures to campsites is challenging to the park staff to provide alternate accommodations.
KL Engineering worked with agency and park managers to develop a plan to redirect drainage away from the campsites experiencing flooding. The plan also addressed flooding of access paths to the walk way in the campsite area.
The developed plan kept costs in mind and was designed to fit within existing infrastructure constraints.
KL Engineering provided construction oversight when construction proceeded in 2023.
