LYRT Phase 2 Now Open

Photos of the finished project showing a paved trail, beautiful boardwalk, and boat launch.

Phase 2 of the Lower Yahara River Trail opened earlier this summer – ahead of schedule! This new section of the trail is in Fish Camp County Park in Dane County and was originally expected to be opening in the fall. It begins at the trailhead near the historic fish net houses and extends south along the eastern shores of Lake Kegonsa into Lake Kegonsa State Park. The project included adding a new parking lot, bicycle lanes, kayak ramp, and fishing pier. The ramp and pier are ADA compliant, providing access for everyone to enjoy!

Over the past 18 months, KL was hard at work with Dane County Parks, removing trees, installing a new 90-foot bridge, and completing construction on the newest part of the trail that is just under two miles long. The project includes 3 segments of boardwalk, totaling 4,212 feet of this new trail. We are always happy to collaborate with Dane County Parks and look forward to celebrating the trail at the ribbon cutting for the project in September.
