The Lower Yahara River Trail Phase 2 and Fish Camp County Park Improvement Project received the 2025 ASCE Engineering Achievement Award in Category B for projects costing between $5M-$15M to construct.

The 1.6-mile trail enhancement includes three boardwalk segments totaling 4,212 feet, thoughtfully designed to provide a seamless and scenic experience for trail users, while preserving the surrounding natural environment. The project involved the installation of over 450 helical piles to support the elevated boardwalk structures, followed by precise placement of planks and custom railings to accommodate the boardwalk’s curvature and ensure long-term stability.

The boardwalks stand as a testament to KL Engineering’s commitment to innovative design, quality construction oversight, and environmental stewardship. We are honored to have this work recognized by ASCE and extend our gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of this project.

Thank you to ASCE for the honor, and thank you to all of the folks who made this project possible.
