KL Engineering has a great opportunity for an experienced mid-level structural engineer who can work out of our Madison, Green Bay, Menomonie, or Germantown offices in a hybrid work environment. We are seeking highly motivated, experienced professionals to join our structural team to work on a variety of important, impactful, and challenging structural projects and assignments from local trail boardwalks to interstate bridges. Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience as well as professional certification or licensure (PE). Candidates with non-transportation-related experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Prepares structural designs, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
Assists in the development of bridge rehabilitation and replacement concepts and prepares alternatives and evaluations.
Assists with the preparation and review of project reports.
Actively participates in quality control of projects.
Provides assistance and guidance to engineers and technicians with design tasks.
Works within a multi-discipline design team.
Learns and stays abreast of structural design standards and procedures.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
5 – 10 years of experience, with PE license required.
Previous experience on structural projects (Transportation and WisDOT experience a plus). including reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and wood.
Experience with structural design, analysis, and AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting software.
Proficiency with the MS Office Suite software.
Demonstrated project or team management experience.
Ability to manage projects and staff independently.
Demonstrated competency in managing the workflow of other engineers, interns, and designers.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing or virtually.
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and self-
Ability to identify and establish work priorities while balancing multiple projects.
