KL Engineering is seeking an experienced Site and Municipal Civil Engineer. Candidates would work within a hybrid schedule out of our Madison, Green Bay, Menomonie, or Germantown office; remote working accommodation within the state of Wisconsin may be considered. KL Engineering, Inc. is an award-winning Wisconsin-based consulting engineering firm. We provide our clients with a full range of services that include transportation planning and design, site, municipal and utility design, structural engineering, parks / trails / recreation design, environmental studies, surveying / GIS, construction management, and more.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. It is important to have professional licensure (PE) or interest and ability to earn such licensure. DESCRIPTION

KL Engineering’s Site and Municipal group completes a wide variety of project types for a diverse mix of private and public clients that include State-owned facilities (DFD), commercial site, municipal, utility-related, parks, institutional, and federal. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career engineer with experience in site and municipal areas that has project management experience or the desire to move into project management while completing technical assignments within a talented and collaborative engineering team.

Responsibilities

Coordinate/perform Civil 3D work for design modeling and plan production.
Prepare and/or coordinate project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Prepare and/or review project reports.
Assess environmental impacts including stormwater management and environmental and agency coordination.
Assist as a client liaison for the project.
Assist with the coordination of sub-consultant activities.
Assist in preparing proposals and participating in marketing efforts.
Assist in the oversight of the construction observation and administration including processing contractor submittals, RFIs, and pay requests.

Qualifications

Required:

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and have 5-15 years of experience.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain a PE in Wisconsin (licensure in surrounding areas a plus).
Familiarity with design/drafting software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D required, proficiency preferred.
Project management experience or the desire to move into project management.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite software.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to travel to sites in and around Wisconsin.
Ability to effectively communicate (virtually and in-person) with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and self-motivated to be successful.
Ability to identify and establish work priorities while balancing multiple projects.

Beneficial Competencies:

Supplemental design experience in related fields such as stormwater, roadway, or sanitary and water main design is beneficial.
Experience with construction oversight activities.
Experience in stormwater management design, including the use of HydroCAD and WinSLAMM.
Previous experience in land development and locally let municipal design procedures, DOA, DFD, and DNR standards, and WisDOT FDM policies and procedure knowledge.
