I love the ‘true’ engineering and critical thinking processes that go into producing the best and most efficient roundabout designs. In the last decade, I’ve been involved in more than 35 roundabout designs, continuously enriching my knowledge with each project. The roundabout design assistance and mentoring that Matt Regnier and I provided for WisDOT NE Region staff at the Interstate 41 & County Trunk Hwy U Interchange, just south of Green Bay, is one of my favorite roundabout experiences. The interchange layout is unusual with a large sideroad skew, varying traffic projections / potential for the growing area, and oversize / overweight vehicle It has been fun to be part of this creative design and to take part in ensuring that safety concerns for the everyday driver are mitigated.”
