International Women in Engineering Day – 2026

June 23rd is International Women in Engineering Day! This global initiative highlights the importance of women engineers, while celebrating their achievements. This year’s theme is “#EngineeringIntelligence.”

KL’s Kayla Roffers started as an intern with us before joining us full time in May of 2025. When asked about her choice to become a civil engineer, she shared, “I chose engineering because I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. I enjoy problem solving and contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on communities.”

Kayla also had advice for girls who want to go into engineering. “My advice is to believe in your abilities and not be afraid to pursue your interests, even if they challenge you. Engineering is a rewarding career that offers endless opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. Do not let stereotypes or self-doubt hold you back, the world of engineering benefits from diverse perspectives!”

Let’s celebrate women in engineering, today and every day!
