“I’m excited to be a Level 1 WisDOT Certified Qualified Roundabout Designer (QRD) and am looking forward to designing more roundabouts across the state. I enjoy using my creativity and expertise to help create safer roadways for the traveling public. One of my favorite things about designing roundabouts is balancing factors like driver safety, pedestrian safety, oversize/overweight vehicle accommodations, and property impacts. There are so many complex interactions to consider, and it is a rewarding experience when designs are successful.

The favorite roundabout I’ve been a part of is at the intersection of State Hwy 21 & County Trunk Hwy G, just east of the Village of Necedah, WI. The location was on a superelevated curve and had drainage issues, commercial buildings nearby, and needed to accommodate oversize/overweight vehicles. The project featured quite a few challenges, but the roundabout design resolved these issues. I’m excited to see the final product once construction is complete!” — Brad Domasky, PE
