Passion put to Work on our Parks, Trails, and Recreation Team

Graphic includes a quote from Sam Herheim that says, "I enjoy working on trails because they make connections; to nature, to destinations, and between neighborhoods and communities."

“The perfect candidate will be willing to take on a challenge.” That’s what Sam Herheim said when asked about who we want in the open role on our Parks, Trail, and Recreation team. “We never see the same project twice,” Sam said. “So, it is important to see all projects with fresh eyes, while also applying lessons from previous experiences to solve problems.”

The perfect candidate is also passionate about the environment. They will understand our impact on nature with each project is vital to keep in consideration every step of the way. “While we are adding to the environment, we are also taking away from it. That balance is something to keep in mind throughout the process.” Sam used her recent collaboration with Dane County Parks on the Lower Yahara River Trail Project as an example. “We have an amazing client in Dane County Parks, and they were concerned about protecting swamp white oak with Lower Yahara River Trail. We worked with them throughout the design process and during the construction of the boardwalk with this goal in mind.”

When asked what is most rewarding about her work on our Parks, Trails, and Recreation team, she said, “I enjoy working on trails because they make connections; to nature, to destinations, and between neighborhoods and communities.” The newest member of our Parks, Trails, and Recreation team will be working hands on designing projects and can put their passion to work making connections with others.
