The parks, trails, and recreation projects that KL Engineering execute extend beyond human benefits. Parks are home to many flora and fauna that provide the foundation for a healthy ecosystem.
This is true for West Waubesa Trail, which was finished in the fall of 2024. KL Engineering had the pleasure of designing and overseeing the boardwalk installation and construction for Dane County Parks.
This nearly 1-mile shared-use trail connects the Lower Yahara River Trail in William G. Lunney Lake Farm County Park to the Waubesa Beach neighborhood. The trail is open to hiking and biking, and other forms of non-motorized transit. A trail pass is not required to partake in #ThePowerOf Nature at the West Waubesa Trail!
The trail is a paved asphalt trail through prairie with two sections of wetland boardwalk, allowing for folks traversing the trail to experience nature. There is also a short section of crushed limestone trail along the western shore of Lake Waubesa, which offers bicyclists and pedestrians a safe off-road alternative to Lake Farm Road.
As we close out #ParkandRecMonth2026, we hope that everyone gets the chance to enjoy #ThePowerOf parks, trails, and recreation in their neck of the woods!
