From the earliest planning stages, the CTH M Reconstruction Project was shaped by the communities it serves. With more than 600 stakeholders engaged and multiple public meetings held, the project team prioritized transparency, communication, and responsiveness throughout the process.
Even during challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, outreach efforts adapted to ensure continued public involvement. Virtual meetings, project updates, and consistent communication helped build trust and allowed community feedback to directly inform design decisions.
The result is a corridor that reflects the needs and priorities of its users. Improved travel reliability, safer access, and enhanced recreational opportunities contribute to a better quality of life for residents and a stronger connection between communities across Dane County.
This impactful project was distinguished with a 2026 APWA WI Project of the Year Award in the Transportation category for projects between $5M–$25M.
