KL is grateful to collaborate closely with the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC) on past projects, including a recently completed portion of the USH 8 Reconstruction & Pathway to Wellness Project. This project was recently recognized with a 2026 WisDOT Excellence in Highway Design award for Best Rural Design at the WisDOT and ACEC Wisconsin Transportation Improvement Conference.

KL partnered with the FCPC on this effort, as well as collaborated with and provided plans to JT Engineering for the 3 projects to be let in one bid package. KL provided bike and pedestrian pathway design and plans, ATV/UTV pathway design and plans, and structure design and plans to facilitate a safe crossing for both new paths of US 8 under the highway. The resulting shared-use trail expands bike and pedestrian accommodations in the area and also provides a safe, designated route for ATV users traveling through the Stone Lake Community.

Recognition is always meaningful—especially when it highlights the strength of valued partnerships.
