KL Engineering has construction oversight staff out in the field all across the state, working tirelessly all season long. “Sometimes when we’re out in the field we end up dealing with the stuff that we’re not specifically trained to deal with. Stuff that totally changes your day and your week,” said Christopher Ehlert regarding the work that our construction team has done in recent weeks. From weather issues to accidents on the job site, our construction engineers have had to deal with it all. “We never like getting a phone call from law enforcement, especially after hours. You know in answering it that it won’t be good news. Unfortunately, we’ve had multiple serious traffic accidents within our work zones that completely shifted our plans and operations for an entire day,” Chris said.
In these events when the construction team is asked to be cool under pressure and keep their day-to-day work going under these extreme circumstances, Chris and other project managers remind their team to rely on each other and to keep the big picture in focus. “During these long stressful days when the unexpected happens, we always encourage our construction team and relieve stress in healthy ways. Take a deep breath or get in a workout, just get away for a little bit and try to relax. Our goal each and every day is to arrive back home safely.”
This Construction Appreciation Week, we thank our construction engineers for their hard work regardless of the situation. The job site could be flooded or on fire, and we still see our people getting to work and keeping things moving to meet difficult deadlines. We couldn’t do our work without them!
