KL Engineering would like to acknowledge the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for a proactive and sustainable project that is saving energy and taxpayer money.
WisDOT, in partnership with KL Engineering, developed a unique statewide roadway lighting retrofit implementation plan that will save not only significant energy for the state, but also more than a million dollars annually in energy, maintenance, and material costs.
WisDOT implemented its two-year retrofit plan in 2018 to convert a majority of its roadway lighting system to the new technology. WisDOT already had retrofitted an estimated 22 percent of the system of nearly 20,500 individual fixtures along highways, intersections, bridges, tunnels, park & ride lots, weigh stations, and rest areas prior to 2018. This plan called for the conversion of more than 10,000 additional lighting fixtures for a total of 75 percent of WisDOT’s roadway lighting.
The project was honored with an ACEC State Finalist Award, which recognizes achievements in engineering that demonstrate a high degree of client satisfaction through quality, cost-effective solutions.
KL Engineering congratulates all 2020 ACEC Award Winners for the innovation and ingenuity they bring to the engineering industry!
