Viking Drive & 8th Street Intersection Improvements
Traffic

With increasing traffic volumes and the proximity of the middle school and popular city parks, the City of Reedsburg proactively sought an upgrade to the Viking Drive & 8th Street intersection. KL coordinated with the City of Reedsburg to ensure the cities specific project goals and long term planning for the area were fully integrated into the design of a traffic signal.
With multiple lanes on Viking Drive in both directions, KL designed the traffic signal to include monotube signal poles, putting a signal head over each lane to maximize visibility and safety. In addition, the project upgraded pedestrian curb ramps and installed improved crosswalks with pedestrian signals across all legs of the intersection, ensuring local children and citizens have a safe way to navigate this busy route and key intersection for the City of Reedsburg.
