KL Engineering has an excellent opportunity for a senior-level structural engineer to work out of our Madison, Green Bay, Menomonie, or Germantown offices in a hybrid work environment. We are seeking highly motivated, experienced professionals to join our structural team to lead projects and provide technical expertise and mentoring. This position offers the flexibility to work with a talented team of engineers on a variety of important, impactful, and challenging structural projects and assignments from local trail boardwalks to interstate bridges. Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of experience as well as professional certification or licensure (PE). Candidates with non-transportation-related experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Monitors the project staff, schedule, and budget to ensure the project is completed within the project contract requirements and budget.
- Oversees project costs and schedule. Prepares monthly invoices for projects.
- Prepares/reviews project reports.
- Serves as client liaison for projects. Assists with negotiation of client contracts.
- Provides guidance and assistance to Engineers and Technicians with design tasks.
- Works within a multi-discipline design team.
- Coordinates/Performs QA/QC of plans and specifications to ensure they are completed in accordance with the project scope, and appropriate guidelines and manuals.
- Develops bridge rehabilitation and replacement concepts and prepares alternatives and evaluations.
- Prepares structural designs, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
- Is active in marketing and business development activities and assembles proposals and contracts.
Qualifications
- Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
- 10+ years of experience, with PE license required.
- Previous experience on structural projects (transportation related and WisDOT experience a plus) including reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and wood.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and self-motivation to be successful.
- Ability to identify and establish work priorities while balancing multiple projects.
- A Senior Structural Engineer Candidate would possess the ability to lead teams, manage projects and mentor others.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing or virtually.
- Experience with structural design, analysis, and AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting software and technology.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite software.
