KL Engineering completed traffic signal design services for the Janeville HSIP Intersection project. The project was granted funding as a safety improvement that will replace existing traffic signals at the intersections of West Memorial Drive with North Washington Street and East Milwaukee Street with North Randall Avenue.

Traffic signal equipment at both intersections have reached the end of their useful life. This project will replace the equipment and implement traffic signal head per lane indications which will promote signal visibility and safety, which were primary objectives of the project.

Curb ramps will also be brought to current ADA standards. One pedestrian crossing movement has been perceived as particularly dangerous by nearby residents. That crossing will benefit from design features that include accessible pedestrian signal and electronic signing to increase driver’s awareness of pedestrians in the crosswalk.
